The Swiss men’s national team nominated Patrick von Gunten to replace another defenceman, Philippe Furrer.

Furrer suffered a neck injury in a league game with SC Bern one month ago and hasn’t returned since. Switzerland head coach Sean Simpson announced that von Gunten, who also plays in the Swiss National League A, for the Kloten Flyers, will be nominated to replace him.

For the 28-year-old, who has been practising with the team since Monday, it will be the second Olympics after Vancouver 2010. He also represented Switzerland in the last two IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships.
